Villa Carlotta Wedding Cost: Ceremony, Guest and Dinner Fees

What a Ceremony on the Camellia Terrace Really Costs

The Villa Carlotta wedding cost for a symbolic ceremony with up to 50 guests is 5,000 EUR plus 22% VAT on the villa's official 2026 to 2027 tariff: a 2,000 EUR ceremony fee plus a 3,000 EUR guest fee. A civil ceremony for up to 50 guests carries a guest fee of 2,500 EUR plus VAT on top of a base fee set by the Comune di Tremezzina, and dinner on the estate from 19:00 to 23:00 adds 8,000 to 18,000 EUR plus VAT, depending on numbers.

Villa Carlotta is a museum and botanical garden on the western shore of Lake Como at Tremezzo, facing the Bellagio peninsula, and it is run by the nonprofit Ente Villa Carlotta. Ceremonies take place on its Camellia Terrace, the Terrazza delle Camelie, with the lake and Bellagio in front of you. The villa publishes its wedding tariff itself, as a PDF on its private events page, so every figure below can be checked at the source.

Konstantyn Zakhariy and Mariya Gritsak photograph weddings on this shore of the lake, including Villa del Balbianello in Lenno, and this guide reads the Villa Carlotta tariff the way they plan a wedding day: as a budget and as a block of time. Below you will find how civil and symbolic fees add up, what dinner, marquees and suppliers add, and what a 90 minute slot means for your photographs. For the gardens and the light through the seasons, see our notes on photographing a Villa Carlotta wedding.

Civil or Symbolic: How the Fee and the Guest Fee Add Up

The tariff prices every ceremony in two parts: a fee for the ceremony itself and a guest fee that depends on how many people attend. Both ceremony types share the same 90 minute reservation of the event area, and the guest fee tiers stop at 80 people.

A civil ceremony is a public act officiated by the Ufficiale di Stato Civile of the Comune di Tremezzina, or a delegate, and it has legal value. The villa charges only the guest fee: 2,500 EUR plus 22% VAT for 1 to 50 guests, or 3,500 EUR plus VAT for 51 to 80. The base fee is not in the villa's document. It is set by the comune, and the tariff sends you to the comune's wedding office for it, so ask for the current figure for your date before you build the budget.

For American couples, the paperwork includes an Atto Notorio sworn before an Italian consulate in the United States, valid for 90 days, and a Dichiarazione Giurata from a US embassy or consulate in Italy. Our guide to how civil ceremonies work at Lake Como covers the documents and the steps at the comune.

A symbolic ceremony, which the villa calls a blessing, has no legal value, and the celebrant is chosen by you or your planner. Here the villa charges both parts: a 2,000 EUR fee plus a guest fee of 3,000 EUR for 1 to 50 guests or 4,000 EUR for 51 to 80, each plus 22% VAT. Couples who complete the legal step at home before travelling often choose this format, and a symbolic ceremony explained walks through how it works.

With VAT, a symbolic ceremony comes to 6,100 EUR for up to 50 guests and 7,320 EUR for 51 to 80. The civil guest fee comes to 3,050 EUR or 4,270 EUR, before the comune's fee. Because each tier is flat, 12 guests pay the same as 50, and the 51st guest adds 1,000 EUR plus VAT, so a guest list hovering around 50 is worth settling before you sign.

Every ceremony fee includes the event area for 90 minutes, entrance to the museum and garden for your guests, basic garden chairs and four antique chairs for the ceremony. That entrance has real value: an adult ticket cost 17.50 EUR in 2026, so for 50 adult guests the fee covers 875 EUR of admissions.

Dinner at the Villa, Marquees and the Costs Outside the Fee

Dinner is a separate evening fee, from 19:00 to 23:00, with a maximum of 80 people: 8,000 EUR for 2 to 10 people, 12,000 EUR for 11 to 50 and 18,000 EUR for 51 to 80, all plus VAT. The window opens as the villa closes to visitors. In the 2026 main season, from 20 March to 18 October, the villa was open from 10:00 to 19:00, with the museum itself closing at 18:30.

Put together, a symbolic ceremony and dinner for 50 guests come to 17,000 EUR in villa fees, or 20,740 EUR with VAT, and for 80 guests to 24,000 EUR, or 29,280 EUR with VAT. That is venue access only. Food and drink come from caterers, and the villa lists Class Events and S-Catering La Breva as partners, with the Bistrot Villa Carlotta in the garden for aperitifs.

Rain rules are where budgets move most. With up to 10 guests, the ceremony can move inside the museum, depending on which rooms are free. Above 10 guests you must rent a marquee to cover the ceremony area on the terrace, and the tariff gives contacts for two marquee suppliers.

Dinner also needs a marquee in bad weather, while a rained out aperitif can move into the bistrot. The marquee price is not in the tariff, so ask for a quote early and ask whether it must be booked whatever the forecast.

Outside the fee, the tariff lists transport by small tractor from 300 EUR plus VAT, catering and banqueting, the florist, musicians and the SIAE music licence, an interpreter, the celebrant and the marquee. SIAE is Italy's music rights society, and one of you applies for the licence online. Its March 2026 guide lists 272.58 EUR for live music only at weddings under 200 guests, or 384.73 EUR once recorded music is included, VAT included.

To hold a date, the villa asks for a 500 EUR deposit that is not refundable. Pay it once the comune has confirmed a civil date, or once your planner has checked caterer and marquee availability, since those decide whether the day works. Planning the 90 Minute Slot From Ceremony to Portraits

Ninety minutes is the real constraint of a Villa Carlotta ceremony. The tariff reserves the event area for 90 minutes, so ask the villa whether setup, flowers and the guests' arrival fall inside that window or before it. If the ceremony itself runs about 30 minutes, you have close to an hour for everything else on the terrace: the entrance, the exit, congratulations and family groups.

We plan that hour in a fixed order. Family groups come first, on the terrace while everyone is still there, from a list agreed in advance. Then the two of you walk into the garden for portraits while guests take the aperitif or visit the museum, which their entrance already covers.

The Italian garden runs on one symmetrical axis from the gate up to the clock on the villa's roof, with terraces closed by stone balustrades and connected by stairs, and camellias line the monumental stairways. With you on the steps and us above, looking down that axis, the lake and Bellagio sit behind you.

The season decides how much light the slot leaves. Sunset at Tremezzo falls around 20:50 in mid May, 21:15 at the June solstice and 19:35 in mid September. Because the villa sits on the western shore and looks across to Bellagio, the sun sets behind the villa and the mountains above it, so the terrace loses direct sun before those times while the far shore keeps its light.

In June the best portrait light arrives after dinner has started, so we take you out between courses. In September sunset comes about half an hour after the 19:00 dinner window opens, so we plan the garden portraits inside the ceremony slot rather than after dinner.

Guests who come by boat use the Tremezzo Villa Carlotta stop, about 400 metres from the entrance, and the villa puts the trip from Como at about 45 minutes. If dinner is elsewhere on the lake, the boat ride to it is the moment for a few quiet portraits on the water.

Konstantyn and Mariya photograph a limited number of weddings each year, always as a team of two on film and digital, with wedding coverage from 7,000 EUR. Because a 90 minute slot is short, we build your timeline around it before the day, from the family list to the minute you leave the terrace. To see how we photograph a villa ceremony on this same shore, look at Lelde and Brad's wedding at Villa del Balbianello in Lenno, which like Tremezzo belongs to the comune of Tremezzina. If Villa Carlotta is on your shortlist, check your date with us and tell us the guest count you are working with.

Frequently Asked Questions About Villa Carlotta Wedding Costs

How much does it cost to get married at Villa Carlotta?

On the 2026 to 2027 tariff, a symbolic ceremony costs 5,000 EUR plus 22% VAT for up to 50 guests and 6,000 EUR plus VAT for 51 to 80. A civil ceremony costs 2,500 or 3,500 EUR plus VAT in guest fees, plus the Comune di Tremezzina's own fee. Dinner, catering, flowers, music and any marquee are extra.

Is a ceremony at Villa Carlotta legally binding?

A civil ceremony is. It is officiated by the civil registrar of the Comune di Tremezzina or a delegate and has legal value, provided your documents are in order. A symbolic ceremony has no legal value, so couples who choose it marry legally elsewhere, before or after.

Can we have dinner at Villa Carlotta after the ceremony?

Yes. The villa sells a separate dinner window from 19:00 to 23:00 for up to 80 people, at 8,000 EUR for 2 to 10, 12,000 EUR for 11 to 50 and 18,000 EUR for 51 to 80, plus VAT. Catering comes from outside caterers such as the villa's listed partners, and a marquee is required if it rains.

What happens at Villa Carlotta if it rains on the wedding day?

With up to 10 guests, the ceremony can move into a museum room if one is available. With more than 10, you need to rent a marquee for the terrace, and the same applies to dinner. An aperitif can move into the Bistrot Villa Carlotta.

How many guests can attend a ceremony at Villa Carlotta?

Up to 80. The guest fee has two tiers, 1 to 50 and 51 to 80, and the dinner window has the same maximum of 80 people. Very small groups have one advantage: with 10 guests or fewer, the indoor rain backup avoids a marquee for the ceremony.

How long do we have the terrace for the ceremony?

The fee reserves the event area for 90 minutes, for both civil and symbolic ceremonies. Plan the ceremony, congratulations and family photographs inside that window, and confirm with the villa how setup time is handled.
