The Short Answer: Four Totals From 20 to 150 Guests
The Lake Como wedding cost by guest count, all in at a villa or hotel, is roughly €50,000 to €90,000 for 20 guests, €120,000 to €180,000 for 50, €180,000 to €300,000 for 100 and €250,000 to €450,000 or more for 150. The cost per guest falls as the list grows, because the planner, the photographers and much of the design grow far more slowly than the guest count.
In US dollars, at the European Central Bank reference rate of 16 October 2026 (1 EUR = 1.1253 USD), that is about $56,000 to $101,000 for 20 guests, $135,000 to $203,000 for 50, $203,000 to $338,000 for 100 and $281,000 to $506,000 for 150. Rates move, so convert again when your quotes arrive in euros.
These are typical ranges with our reasoning, not quotes. Each assumes vendors at the level of the venue, a full planner and the wedding day itself, plus a welcome dinner for the two larger groups. Guest flights and rooms, attire and the honeymoon sit outside them.
Konstantyn Zakhariy and Mariya Gritsak have photographed Lake Como weddings from elopements at Villa del Balbianello to celebrations at Relais Villa Vittoria and Villa Erba, and these totals follow how budgets at those sizes are built. Below you will find what each guest count buys, where totals jump rather than creep, and which costs barely move. For a line by line view of each category, our Italy destination wedding cost breakdown for 2026 is the companion piece.
20 and 50 Guests: Micro Wedding and Intimate Wedding Totals
20 guests: €50,000 to €90,000, about $56,000 to $101,000. At this size, catering stops deciding the budget. WeddingItaly budgets catering for 50 guests at €7,500 to €15,000, so dinner for 20 is a modest share of the total. The planner, the photographers, flowers and music barely shrink, so per guest a wedding for 20 costs more than one for 50: about €2,500 to €4,500 a head against €2,400 to €3,600.
The reward is access to venues that open up only for small groups. Relais Villa Vittoria, in Laglio on the western shore about 14 km from Como, offers partial use of the villa for weddings of up to 30 guests, with live music in that option limited to strings during the ceremony or aperitif. Its 2027 to 2028 listing on Wedinspire shows a ceremony on the Main Terrace from 4:30 to 5:30 pm for 21 to 30 guests from €1,000 plus 10% VAT.
At Villa del Balbianello, weddings of up to 50 people, children included, can sometimes hold the ceremony while the villa is still open to visitors, which Italian Lakes Wedding says is usually the more budget friendly option. The trade is sharing the gardens with visitors until the villa closes to the public at 6 pm.
If €50,000 is above your number, our guide to a Lake Como wedding for 30,000 to 50,000 USD shows the leaner version, built on restaurant receptions and town hall ceremonies.
50 guests: €120,000 to €180,000, about $135,000 to $203,000. This is the figure our 2026 cost breakdown gives for 50 guests at a premium villa or hotel, covering venue, catering, flowers, photography, planner, music and decor, with high but not top tier vendors and a reception of four to five hours.
Published planner figures sit lower. WeddingItaly's scenario for an intimate wedding of up to 50 guests totals €70,000 to €150,000, with an event only venue at €20,000 to €40,000, on a page dated only by a 2026 copyright. The gap comes mostly from the venue line: an event only rental costs less than a premium villa or hotel held for the day.
100 and 150 Guests: Full Weekends and Larger Venues
100 guests: €180,000 to €300,000, about $203,000 to $338,000. At 100 guests a wedding usually becomes a weekend, and our range covers a welcome dinner plus the wedding day. Hello! reported in September 2023 that Lake Como planners had quoted one couple €120,000 to €200,000 for 70 to 100 guests for a single day, which is why that figure sits below our weekend range.
Doubling from 50 to 100 guests does not double the total. Our 100 guest range sits about 50 to 67 percent above the 50 guest range, because one planner, one photography team and much of the design serve the wedding whatever its size. What scales is everything counted per person: dinner, bar, chairs, transfers and the welcome dinner itself.
The venue list narrows too. Relais Villa Vittoria, whose main hall seats 68 for dinner according to Italian Lakes Wedding, drops out, and Villa del Balbianello can host a ceremony of this size only when it is closed to visitors, at higher exclusive use fees.
Transport changes as well. If each taxi boat seats six guests, one crossing for 100 people takes about 17 runs. Navigazione Laghi, which runs the scheduled ships on Lake Como, also charters them for private events, so above roughly 80 guests one chartered ship is often simpler than a fleet of small boats.
150 guests: €250,000 to €450,000 and more, about $281,000 to $506,000. Our range matches the grand celebration scenario WeddingItaly publishes for 150 or more guests. Its breakdown shows where the money sits: a full buyout at €80,000 to €200,000 and up, flowers and decor at €20,000 to €60,000 and up, and €40,000 to €90,000 and up for multi day events and extras.
Larger estates are built for these numbers. Villa Erba, a large lakeside property in Cernobbio, is one that Italian Lakes Wedding recommends for events of at least 40 to 50 people, with rental from €10,000 plus 22% VAT on its 2024 page, while WeddingItaly lists event only rental there at €20,000 to €40,000.
Villa Erba is not licensed for legally binding civil ceremonies, so the legal ceremony takes place elsewhere, such as a town hall, with a blessing or symbolic ceremony at the villa if you want one. Venue Thresholds Where Totals Jump, and Costs That Stay Put
Totals do not rise smoothly with each guest. They jump at a few thresholds, and knowing where they sit can decide if you invite 48 people or 55.
Thirty guests at Relais Villa Vittoria. Up to 30, Wedinspire lists partial use of the villa, and beyond that the whole villa must be booked, for up to 70. Italian Lakes Wedding's venue page adds that from April to October the entire property with all 12 rooms is required, for one to three nights depending on dates, while the 2027 to 2028 Wedinspire listing shows no minimum stay. Ask the venue which rule applies to your date before you count the 31st guest.
Fifty guests at Villa del Balbianello. The villa is managed by FAI, and Italian Lakes Wedding, which published the 2026 and 2027 base rates in February 2026, notes that ceremonies for more than 50 people are allowed only when the villa is closed to visitors: after 6 pm, or on Mondays and Wednesdays at higher fees. Its venue page adds that the Loggia Durini takes at most 80 chairs, so a larger ceremony means standing guests or the Oak Terrace, which costs more. Every fee carries 22% VAT, and ceremony chairs run about €10 plus VAT each.
Eighty guests on the water. Navigazione Laghi's 2022 article on private events describes charters for groups from 80 passengers. Its current Lake Como fleet page lists ships for 100 to 770 passengers and quotes a Rondine series motorboat for eight hours, with up to four hours of sailing, from €1,800 plus 10% VAT. Final prices depend on route, length and time slot.
Some lines grow far more slowly than your list. Planning is one: in its own scenarios WeddingItaly prices its service at €6,000 to €8,000 for up to 50 guests and €8,000 to €12,000 for 150 or more. Photography is another: our wedding coverage starts from 7,000 EUR, always with both of us, Konstantyn and Mariya, working on film and digital, and that starting point is the same for 20 guests or 150. For the share each category takes of a total, see where a Lake Como wedding budget actually goes.
We photograph a limited number of weddings each year, from elopements for two to full weekends, and our work has appeared in Brides and Style Me Pretty. Once you have a guest count and a venue shortlist, check your date with us and we will tell you how we would plan coverage around both. To see how a larger estate photographs on the day, look through Sara and Youssef's wedding at Villa Erba.
Frequently Asked Questions About Lake Como Wedding Cost by Guest Count
How much does a Lake Como wedding cost per guest?
Across our four scenarios, roughly €1,700 to €4,500 per guest, all in. The figure falls as the list grows, from about €2,500 to €4,500 at 20 guests to about €1,700 to €3,000 at 150, because the planner, the photographers and much of the design are shared by more people.
How much does a 100 guest wedding at Lake Como cost?
Typically €180,000 to €300,000, about $203,000 to $338,000 at the ECB rate of 16 October 2026, for a welcome dinner and the wedding day at a villa or hotel. A brunch, a later finish or a full buyout with rooms moves it higher.
Is a 50 guest wedding much cheaper than a 100 guest wedding?
Cheaper, but not by half. Our ranges are €120,000 to €180,000 for 50 guests and €180,000 to €300,000 for 100, and part of that gap is the welcome dinner, which our 100 guest range includes and our 50 guest range does not. A smaller list also keeps venues such as Relais Villa Vittoria in play.
Does photography cost more for a larger guest list?
Our weddings start from 7,000 EUR with two photographers, and that starting point does not change with the guest count. Larger weddings tend to add events and hours, such as a welcome dinner or a later finish, so send us your full schedule when you ask for a quote.
Which Lake Como venues have a guest minimum or a price jump?
Relais Villa Vittoria offers partial use only up to 30 guests and hosts weddings of up to 70. Villa del Balbianello allows ceremonies above 50 people only when it is closed to visitors, at higher fees. Villa Erba works the other way: Italian Lakes Wedding recommends it for events of at least 40 to 50 people.
Should we pay for guest boats and shuttles?
On the wedding day, yes, both ways and for every guest whenever the venue depends on the water. Villa del Balbianello can be reached only by private boat, which makes transfers part of the venue cost. Price the couple's own boat separately: Hello! reported that a classic Riva for the bride's arrival cost £550 per hour in 2023. For a venue reached by road, such as Villa Erba, a coach from the guest hotels does the same job.
