Borgo Santandrea Wedding: Three Days Above Conca dei Marini

A Cliffside Hotel Above Conca dei Marini

A Borgo Santandrea wedding works best as a full weekend: the hotel sits on a cliff about 90 metres above the sea at Conca dei Marini, with its own beach and jetty below, so guests can stay, dine and go out on the water without leaving the property. For couples who want an Amalfi hotel wedding with real sea views rather than a town square, it is one of the strongest choices on the coast.

Konstantyn Zakhariy and Mariya Gritsak photographed Becca and Timothy's weekend here, which ran over three days: a welcome dinner and pizza party, the wedding, and a boat tour along the coast to Positano on day three. This article follows that structure and adds what you need to plan your own.

The hotel is a whitewashed 1960s building set above old stone fortifications, renovated by the Orlacchio and De Siano families with architect Bonaventura Gambardella of Ravello, as Dezeen reported. Its official site lists 31 rooms and 21 suites, which matters for a wedding: with roughly 50 keys, a large part of a mid sized guest list can sleep on site, and the rest stay in Amalfi a few minutes away.

Eight lifts connect the top of the property to the base, and paths run along the ramparts down to the private beach. That vertical layout shapes the whole weekend, from where guests gather to where the light falls at the end of the day.

If you are still comparing areas, our Amalfi Coast wedding photographer guide covers the coast as a whole. Here we stay at one hotel.

Day One: Welcome Dinner and Pizza Party

A welcome evening does two jobs at Borgo Santandrea. It brings guests together after long flights into Naples, and it lets everyone learn the property before the wedding day, when nobody wants to search for the right lift in formal shoes.

Becca and Timothy opened their weekend with a welcome dinner and a pizza party, and that pairing suits this hotel well. The official site describes pizza at Marinella, the private beach area at the foot of the cliff, and the hotel has several dining spaces beyond it, including the Marinella restaurant, AQVA at the beach club for seaside lunch, the Plumbago bar and a wine cellar. Ask the events team which spaces can be reserved for a private group on your dates, since the beach club is primarily for hotel guests.

For photography, the first evening is where relaxed pictures happen. Guests are not yet in their wedding clothes, families are meeting for the first time, and the light over the water at aperitivo hour is soft. We usually cover a welcome evening with a separate block of 2 to 3 hours, which often adds more to your story than extra hours on the wedding day.

You can see how the first evening looked, along with the rest of the weekend, in Becca and Timothy's three day wedding at Borgo Santandrea, the largest story in our portfolio.

Day Two: The Wedding at Borgo Santandrea and the Cliff Light

The wedding day at Borgo Santandrea is shaped by the cliff. The hotel faces the open Tyrrhenian Sea, and its terraces step down toward the water, so most photographs are framed with the sea and the coastline behind you. Dezeen notes that the property has several terraces used for outdoor dining, and the Michelin Guide describes the terrace at Alici, the hotel's starred restaurant, with its blue and azure majolica floor. The hotel's site shows one Michelin star for 2026.

Timing the light. Sunset on the Amalfi Coast is earlier than many couples expect from a Lake Como or northern European summer: about 8:35 pm in mid June and about 7:10 pm in mid September. The steep coastline means terraces can fall into shade before the sun reaches the horizon, so we plan portraits for the last hour of direct sun, then use the blue light after sunset for a few frames over the water before dinner.

Ceremony time. In June, a ceremony around 6 pm leaves time for the aperitivo and portraits in warm light. In September, move it earlier, closer to 4:30 or 5 pm. Midday on these terraces is bright and hard, which is beautiful for the sea but difficult for faces.

Legal or symbolic. Under Italian law a civil marriage is celebrated by the comune, at the town hall or at a site the comune has authorised. We could not confirm whether Conca dei Marini authorises any site at the hotel, so ask the hotel and the comune directly. Many couples marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony on site. Another route is a civil ceremony in Amalfi, where planners list the Salone Morelli next to the cathedral as the main hall, with a seated limit of about 70 guests, and then a celebration back at the hotel.

Capacity. The hotel's own site does not publish event capacities. A wedding listing on Wezoree shows up to 150 guests, but treat that as a starting point and confirm the real numbers for each space with the hotel's events team.

Day Three: A Boat Tour Along the Coast to Positano

The private jetty is what makes a third day on the water so easy here. The official site describes docking at the Borgo, and the hotel promotes direct sea access toward Amalfi, Positano and Capri, so guests can step from the beach onto a boat without a transfer by road.

Heading west to Positano, a boat passes the coast between Conca dei Marini and Praiano before the houses of Positano come into view. Scheduled ferries between Amalfi and Positano usually take about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on the vessel and the sea. A private boat from the hotel's jetty covers a similar distance, but a day tour is never only the crossing: with swimming stops and time in Positano, plan on half a day or more, and confirm the route and timing with the boat company.

Becca and Timothy spent day three on exactly this kind of tour. Our Amalfi Coast boat tour to Positano gallery shows what a day on the water from Borgo Sant Andrea looks like, and our Positano wedding photography post explains how the town itself photographs. For photography, a boat day is about the group: friends in swimwear, the couple at the bow, lunch somewhere on the coast. It is one of the few times in the weekend when nobody is dressed up and everyone is in the frame.

Planning tips for the boat day: book the boat early for a summer weekend, keep the group to a size one or two boats can carry, and pick a morning departure, when the sea is usually calmer and the light on the cliffs is clean.

We photograph a limited number of weddings each year, always as a team of two, and we plan coverage around the hotel's layout, your ceremony option and the cliff light. Weddings start from 7,000 EUR, and multi day coverage is quoted around your weekend plan. Send us your date and a rough outline of the three days, and check your date with us.

Frequently Asked Questions About Borgo Santandrea Weddings

How many guests can Borgo Santandrea host for a wedding?

The hotel does not publish event capacities on its site. A wedding listing shows up to 150 guests, but capacity depends on which terrace or room you use and whether dinner is seated, so confirm numbers with the hotel's events team before you commit.

Can you have a legal ceremony at Borgo Santandrea?

In Italy a civil marriage is celebrated by the comune, at the town hall or at a site the comune has authorised. Ask the hotel whether such a site exists on the property. If not, many couples marry legally at home or at the town hall in Amalfi, then hold a symbolic ceremony at the hotel.

Where do guests stay for a Borgo Santandrea wedding?

The hotel lists 31 rooms and 21 suites, so a good part of a mid sized wedding can stay on site. Remaining guests usually stay in Amalfi, a few minutes along the coast road, or in nearby villages.

What time of day is best for photos at Borgo Santandrea?

The last hour of direct sun before sunset, which is about 8:35 pm in mid June and about 7:10 pm in mid September. Because the coast is steep, light leaves the lower terraces early, so we plan portraits slightly ahead of the official sunset.

How long is the boat ride from Borgo Santandrea to Positano?

Scheduled ferries from nearby Amalfi to Positano take roughly 15 to 25 minutes. A private boat from the hotel's jetty is in a similar range depending on the boat and sea conditions; ask the operator for the exact time.

Is the Amalfi Coast or Ravello a better fit than a seaside hotel?

It depends on whether you want the sea at your feet or a garden view from above. If you are weighing both, read about Ravello weddings above the Amalfi Coast before you decide.
